Festivals in Bhutan have the reputation of being raucous and joyous. The festivals, called Tsechus, are colourful events and all Bhutanese gather and celebrate at every Dzongs (fortress), temples and monasteries. These celebrations attract people from far and wide.

The main purpose of these festivals is to ward off evil through music, dancing and rituals and to bring good fortune for the next year.
