Thousand Lakes Trek |

Dagala Thousand Lakes trek
leads up to plenty of
beautiful high altitude
mountain lakes and provides
stunning views of the whole
Bhutanese Himalayan range as
well as Kanjenjunga (3rd
highest mountain of the
world, Sikkim). The trek
starts from the beautiful
Gynekha village with a short
descent down to the river
before reaching a huge rock
platform from where there is
a picturesque view of the
valley below. The trail
winds through flowers and
wild asparagus in the spring
making the meadows
refreshing and inspiring and
exposes great views of
Dagala range dotted with
meadows and yak herders
camp. As the trail scales up
along the western side of
Dala Tsho up to a saddle at
4,520m there are majestic
views of great Himalayan
peaks including Mt. Everest
(Nepal), Kanchenjunga (Sikkim),
Jomolhari, Jichu Drake,
Tshering Gang, Khangbum,
Masang Gang, Tsende Gang and
Gangche Ta. The final day
involves the crossing of
several passes including
Tale La (4,180m) before
descending back to Talakha
Gompa for an overnight with
great views of Bhutan's
capital Thimphu |

Day 01 :
Gynekha - Gur (seven km,
five hours, camp altitude
3,290m). |
Day 02 :
Gur - Labatama (12 km, 5
hours) (12km, six hours,
camp altitude 4,300m).
|
Day 03 :
Relaxation day at Labatama.
This day is ideal for an
excursion to any of three
lakes: Reli Tsho, Hen Tsho
and Jama Tsho. The day and
place is also ideal for
trout fishing. |
Day 04 :
Labatama - Panka (8km, six
to seven hours, camp
altitude 4,000m).

Day 05 :
Panka-Talakha (eight km,
five to six hours, camp
altitude 3,080m).
|
Day 06 : Talakha -
Chamgang (Distance six km,
three hours, 440m descent).
