Situated between Lhotse and Imja glaciers in the Khumbu region, Island is one of the most popular climbing peaks in Nepal. It combines both the elements of Everest Basecamp / Kalapattar trekking and Island peak climbing and requires some mountaineering skills. Climbers can ascend by the standard route and although the summit can be reached in one day from the base camp, you can also make use of a high camp. The final ridge is a classic of its kind and from the summit there are fabulous views of many Himalayan giants including Mt. Everest (8848m.), Lhotse (8516m), Amadablam (6856m.) and numerous others peaks.
