For those
of you who would like to
combine your trekking trip
with few days of Yogic
experiences, the Shivapuri
Yoga Trek might be the
perfect alternative. The
Yoga classes are designed by
well reputed Yoga teachers
in such a way as to link up
daytime trekking activities
with your morning yoga and
meditation instruction.
Constant mindfulness forms
an important part of this
programme requiring you to
be ever alert to your
breathing no matter whether
you are walking, sleeping or
trekking.
The Shivapuri Yoga spot is a
classic Nepalese architect
featuring just a few small
hut type clay houses in the
midst of Shivapuri National
Park. Away from the hustle
bustle of city activities
this can prove to be a
perfectly ideal retreat
where you can not only enjoy
the natural beauty with
breathtaking views of the
majestic Himalayas, the lush
greenery of the park, forest
and wilderness, but can also
wind down much of the
pressure you have
accumulated. There is also
the opportunity for culture
experience. Visiting the
nearby community and
interacting with them whose
lifestyle remains pretty
much the same until today as
they were hundreds of year
ago can be quite an
experience in itself. Whilst
interacting with the locals
and enjoying the wilderness,
you will have an instant
sense of remoteness in this
place, which is only few km
away from the capital.
Making the time to take a
simple yoga class and
combining it with trekking
and cultural experience
activities can be a
rewarding way to help one
experience balance and more
peace in life.
Shivapuri
National Park
Kathmandu valley is
surrounded by many hills
from all sides and Shivapuri
(2732m) is the second
highest among them. The name
Shivapuri is also taken to
denote Nepal’s youngest
National Park popularly
known as “Shivapuri National
Park” adjoining the capital
city Kathmandu. Covering an
area of 144 sq km the park
territory extends from
Kakani to the West and
Chisapani to the East. The
whole of Shivapuri National
Park area is equally
suitable for Yoga,
Meditation and Trekking
course. This is a prime
example of any capital
linked with the National
park area in the world. The
National park is famous for
varieties of medicinal
herbs, flora and fauna. The
park has also recorded 177
species of birds, 19 species
of mammals and 150 species
of butterflies which makes
the Shivapuri National Park
a nature’s paradise.
Yoga and Meditation – Why in
Shivapuri?
The legend has that
Shivapuri was the place
where Lord Shiva lived and
meditated. It is widely
believed that the whole of
Shivapuri area is vibrated
with spiritual energy. In
the Buddhist scriptures it
is also mentioned that Lord
Buddha before venturing
towards a holy Buddhist
shrine Shoyambhunath took
bath and meditated in this
area. Likewise Lord Vishnu (Budhanilkantha)
can be seen lying down in
this area. Similarly a great
Indian holy sage and teacher
who later came to be known
as “Shivapuri Baba” also
lived and meditated in this
area till the age of 137
before resting eternally.
From this religious fact it
is evidently clear that the
park area holds significant
importance both for the
Hindus and the Buddhists.
Additional reasons for
choosing Shivapuri Park as a
Yoga, Meditation and
Trekking destination:
• Near from Kathmandu
• Cost and time effective
• Wilderness / Remoteness /
Solitude
• Protected area
• The holy rivers Bagmati
and Bishnumati starts from
Shivapuri
• Many other spiritual
palace; caves, temples,
monasteries such as
Budhanilkantha, Sundarimai,
Bagdwar and the Nagi
monastery attract thousands
of pilgrims during festive
seasons.
This could be the reason
Shivapuri holds immense
importance in meditation and
Yogic practices. Therefore
we organize Yoga, meditation
and trekking courses at the
same time for all our guests
arriving for this purpose.
Similarly we serve
nutritious yogic food,
preserve the yogic
environment and provide a
unique opportunity to
practice yoga and
meditation.
Come and explore this life
changing opportunity. !!!
