The State of Emergency lifted in Nepal |
|
In accordance with the Article 115 (11) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990, the state of emergency is lifted effective from April 29, 2005, Friday. The state of emergency throughout the Kingdom of Nepal was ordered in accordance with Article 115 (1) of the Constitution on February 1, 2005. This information was carried in a press release issued by Royal Palace Secretariat. Nepali travel trade sector welcomed the decision and believed the decision will enhance Nepali trade sector and tourism industry.

Kathmandu-Lhasa bus service from May 1 |
|
The bus service between Kathmandu-Lhasa has started from Lhasa on April 29 and will arrive Kathmandu on May 1, 2005 Sunday. Similarly, the bus from Kathmandu to Lhasa will be inaugurated in Kathmandu on May 1, 2005 amidst a grand function.
Sixty-five persons have so far applied for the ticket to go to Lhasa but some of them do not have passports. Altogether 40 passengers, including nine government officials, are scheduled to leave for Lhasa.

A news report published in a vernacular daily that an international expedition team has postponed its programme to attempt Mt. Everest during this spring has drawn our serious attention. The expedition team is yet to approach His Majesty’s Government for the permit to scale the peak.
